I was not very busy
I was not traveling
I was not doing anything constructive
I was only going through the motions of managing my department. . .
Why did I not post anything for such a long time???
I feel like I have a lot of things to say about how things ought to be done.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that a good organizational unit is one that has a simplistic understanding of what happens in the department.
….. Too many words . . . .!!! I mean….KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!!!
A lot is said and done about work flow in a radiology department . . . a lot more said than done actually.
I have noticed that vendors get so caught in the functionality of their product that they seldom pay any attention to the core requirements of a site. This is especially true for First time adopters of PACS – The original purpose of going “digital” is lost in the ambiguity of “functionality” provided by a new PACS system. \
My Top 5 must have’s for a successful PACS project
- A PACS ADMINISTRATOR with a solid background in IT/IS
- Eager Radiologists with active involvement in defining their workspace
- Proper Project Planning
- A radiology administration with a spine and a dash of foresight
- Solid support between IT and Radiology departments
More than anything else . . . interdepartmental cooperation and communication is mandatory for the success of any project.
I am definitely going to posting more from now on. . . .watch this space!
